Regi Claire
Edinburgh-based, Swiss-born, I am a novelist, short story writer and poet. Two of my fiction books were shortlisted for Scotland’s National Book Awards. My work features in several ‘best of’ anthologies and has been published in the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia, Romania, Hungary and Switzerland. I won the Mslexia/Poetry Book Society Women’s Poetry Competition 2019 and was a finalist for Best Single Poem in the Forward Prizes 2020. Poems of mine are studied at UK universities and in Scottish schools.
I am a very experienced reader/performer, facilitator, competition judge, chair and workshop leader for adolescents/adults. Venues in Britain and abroad include book festivals, conferences, universities, schools, writing/reading groups. For many years I taught creative writing for the National Galleries of Scotland, then ran my group Rebel Writers at City Art Centre. I was a Royal Literary Fund Fellow, then a Lector for Reading Round, a group I now run privately. Since 2019 I have also taught Reading Round at the University of Edinburgh.
I am keen to explore multiculturalism, identity, language, illness, disability, loss, society, nature, the environment, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. My aim is to engage, encourage and inspire.
