Richard Flynn's headshot

I am an award-winning screenwriter and poet.
I am a returning writer for BBC Scotland’s River City and a winner of “Best Short Script” at the European Independent Film Festival.
As a poet, I have had work published through The Scribbler’s Union and have performed in many venues (both real and virtual) including Sonnet Youth’s Weekender.
I have led creative workshops utilising screenwriting and poetry techniques to explore creativity and character work. I am particularly interested in running sessions on improving self-esteem through writing and working with LGBTQ+ people.
I have mentored and/or offered tailored feedback to writers working in screen, stage, poetry, comic books and audio drama.
My writing often incorporates pop culture and modern mythology, and I enjoy bringing these elements into my workshops when applicable and useful.
As a writer of continuing drama, I can offer insight into the process of working on soaps from the initial seeds of storylining to fleshing out stories, dialogue and scene descriptions.
