RJ Mitchell's headshot

I am a former Glasgow police officer and Herald, Times and Scotsman sports journalist. I have had seven crime thrillers published which draw on - some more than others - my experiences as a cop.

My new book The Hammer is the sixth in the DS Thoroughood crime fiction series set in Glasgow.

I am comfortable speaking to audiences both small and large and have appeared on panels at Bloody Scotland (2018), Islay Book Festival (2015), Aye Write (2016), Off the Page (2013).

I have also hosted author launches like Denzil Meyrick’s Dark Suits & Sad Songs (2016).

I am about to embark on a seventeen-stop book-signing Tour with WH Smith in support of The Hammer. This is my fifth national tour with the retailer. I consider myself a good communicator with all levels and most age groups.

I have also given broadcast interviews with Radio Scotland both in my book writing career and capacity as a sports journalist.
