I am particularly interested in engaging poets with their local area and finding value and universal meaning in local history and dialect. My experiences and interest in boxing have provided me with a subject for poetry, using the sport as a metaphor for conflict or as a way to address social issues. As a healthcare worker and the father of a small child, my poetry tends to move between violence and compassion, tough-mindedness and tender-heartedness, balancing and contrasting the good and bad in us all. An experienced reader of my work I have been invited to perform at long running events such as StAnza Poetry Festival, Shore Poets, The Heretics and St Mungo's Mirrorball. I have also been commissioned to write poetry for StAnza and a Fire Station Creative art exhibition.
