I'm a writer and editor based in Edinburgh. I was fiction editor at Scholastic Children's Books, senior editor at Floris Books, and have written for Time Out, The Herald, The List and The Guardian. When I'm not writing, I run Lighthouse Literary and love talking to kids and adults alike about reading, writing and the joy of making stuff up.

I'm the author of a trilogy for 7-9 year olds: Elspeth Hart and the School for Show-offs and Elspeth Hart and the Perilous Voyage (Stripes). My children's books are incredibly silly and full of stories about bratty school kids and disgusting dinner ladies. I also write poetry. My poems have been widely published and anthologised, and my pamphlet Glisk is published by Tapsalteerie.

I'm delighted to do readings, Q&As or author talks. I'm also very happy to do creative writing workshops with P3-6, especially sessions on developing villains and heroes, and making up disgusting recipes together (as my books feature an evil dinner lady!). For adults, I can offer workshops for poetry or fiction, and can talk about the process of getting published, based on my experiences as an editor at a large London publishing house.
