Anxious about that blank page? Not sure where to start? Take inspiration from an existing text! Come and listen to author Kirsty Gunn reading from her new collection of short stories, Pretty Ugly, that invites you to look in the mirror and find your best hopeful, creative self in what you see there.

Using her story “Mirror, Mirror” as a starting point Kirsty, along with Imagined Spaces editor and publisher, Gail Low, and artist, printmaker and papermaker, Jean W Duncan, will lead you in a highly productive, practical and inspiring creative workshop. You will be learning to generate new writing – a short story, poem sequence or life writing fragment – from reading creatively, and then producing your own text, which you may then edit and finish in a beautiful one-off concertinaed artist book that combines text, paper, drawing and collage.

The event is free and all materials will be provided. This is an in-person event for Book Week Scotland at the Otter Room, Larick Centre 9:30am – 12:30pm.

This event is supported by Book Week Scotland 2024 event funding.
