On November 21st from 3–5pm, during Book Week Scotland, we will be launching the new Fly Cup Poetry Spot at Orb's Bookshop in Huntly, Aberdeenshire.
Our launch event will be hosted by professional poets, Sheena Blackhall and Dawn Mclachlan. The Fly Cup Poetry Spot will be a place where anyone with a poetic interest or curiosity can come and share their own or their favourite poetry in a safe and non-judgemental environment. The Fly Cup will pop-up at different venues around the town (to reach as many different audiences as possible) but this launch event will be hosted at the much-loved Orb's Community Bookshop in the Square in the heart of Huntly.
Sheena and Dawn will be sharing their own poetry from their many publications, and they will be supporting and encouraging anyone who fancies reading some poems to step up the mic. We know that reading aloud in a warm and friendly environment can be hugely rewarding and a great way to build confidence and self-esteem. We want to share our love of poetry for all ages, and help others to express themselves and find their own voices.
This is event is family friendly and for all ages, and is free of charge. The building is accessible and on the ground floor. We will be providing a fly cup (of course!) and even a few funcy pieces for those who know that poetry is best appreciated with a bit of cake on the side! No admission charge, donations appreciated to fund future Fly Cup Poetry Spot events
