We are on the hunt for Scotland’s Reading Champions!

Is there someone you know who inspires children and teens to get into reading? If so, please nominate them for our brand-new Reading Champion Awards, in association with Browns Books(this link will open in a new window), and they could win £250 worth of new books.

The Reading Champion Awards want to recognise the reading role models out there whose fantastic work inspires others to read for pleasure.

What does a Reading Champion do? Well, it could be anything that helps young people catch the reading bug. To help give you an idea, here are a few examples of what they might do:

Run book groups
Organise exciting book-related visits and events
Change attitudes to reading in fresh and engaging ways
Involve parents, carers and the community in promoting reading
Create reading dens and special library spaces

Give us an example(s) of a way in which you or the person you’re nominating has made reading for pleasure a fun and creative experience for children and young people you/they work with. Please be sure to include what impact this work had, the difference it made and to whom.This might be the creation of a reading den, running a celebration day, finding a fun way to involve families. It doesn’t have to be an enormous project, it should just demonstrate a way in which it’s possible to make reading for pleasure enjoyable, meaningful and memorable for young people.

You may wish to submit a video nomination featuring children and young people speaking about the impact the nominee has had on their love of reading. If you would like to do this please provide a link to where the video is available (i.e. a WeTransfer link, a private YouTube link.)

Videos will be shared with the judging panel but deleted afterwards and not shared publicly. By submitting the video you are confirming that you have parental permission to film the children featured in it.
