Story tips
- This collection is a lovely way to remember the words of classic nursery rhymes – or learn a new favourite! It’s also a great introduction to Bookbug Session songs and rhymes.
- When we say rhymes we slow down, which helps wee ones 'catch' the words we are saying. Make the most of the rhyming word at the end of the line by leaving a gap before it and adding a bit of anticipation: 'Humpty dumpty had a great... FALL!'
- Bounce your baby in time to the rhythm of the nursery rhyme as you say them – feeling the beat is an important step on the way to reading and can also be very reassuring to wee ones.
- You don't need to go through all the rhymes at once, your wee one will enjoy it even if you just choose one of the rhymes and do it a few times (try faster/slower, quieter/louder for fun!)
