Bookbug Session Leader refresher training supports previously-trained Bookbug Session leaders who are returning to leading sessions after some time away, or who were trained some time ago or want to update their Bookbug practice.

Upcoming training and how to register

Dates will be released on a rolling basis throughout the year so check back regularly here, or on your Bookbug Session Leader portal, or sign up for our Working with Bookbug newsletter to be notified as training dates are added.

Please note you must have previously completed Bookbug Session Leader training.

Sign-ups are available through our Bookbug Session Leader Portal. If you are currently a session leader and don't have access to this portal please let us know at [email protected].

The theme for April and May will be Building Confidence with Bookbug: This Bookbug refresher session is for those who are leading regular Bookbug sessions and would like new story, song and rhyme ideas to update their practice, as well as ways to be more confident in singing and storytelling.

To book please log in to your Bookbug Portal and look at your course catalogue. You can then join the course, click through the course to get to the dates, and register for your preferred session (if there are spaces available).

Course details

This course will:

  • Give you ideas for new stories, songs and rhymes to refresh your practice
  • Boost your confidence in sharing stories, songs and rhymes
  • Provide the opportunity to share best practice with session leader colleagues

Cost

Training is funded by the Scottish Government and Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative at no cost to participants.

Eligibility

You must have previously completed Bookbug Session Leader training. If you are unsure if you have attended Bookbug Session Leader training, please get in touch with us and we will check our records.

We run regular refreshers and everyone who has been previously trained is welcome to join at any time and for any reason.

Format

A 2.5-hour long live, online or in-person session, with a comfort break halfway through.

To attend online training, you will need:

  • A computer, laptop or tablet that has a camera and microphone - you are required to be seen and heard to participate. A mobile phone is not suitable due to the format of the training.
  • To be able to access Zoom or Microsoft Teams (depending on the platform of the session you registered for)
  • To be registered individually on the training course and participate on your own individual device
