I will celebrate the women
For when all is said and comes
As we boarded, hoarded, shut our doors
There were silhouettes in sun.
Who walked the barren silent streets
To tend our sick, to clean and care
Without complaint , courage not faint
I watched them rising everywhere.
I will celebrate the women
For when all is said and gone
We lacked understand, whilst they held hands
Of fallen souls alone.
They watched the breath deceive repeated
To then drift home, to clean and care
Without depart, clenched heavy hearts
I watched them carried everywhere.
I will celebrate the women
For when all is said and lands
As long the days they searched new ways
Solutions in the plans.
In every corner there they talked
To then close screens, to clean and care
With phone alone, they sat in homes
I watched them broadcast everywhere.
I will celebrate the women
For when all is said and lost
The days were spent the lessons learnt
Whilst left behind through cost.
As homes became a sudden classroom
To then make time, to clean and care
Without resist, new job on list
I watched them teaching everywhere.
I will celebrate the woman
For when all is said and here
Drove sacrifice to silent lives
Safe space became a fear
In outreached hands from all directions
To then support, to clean and care
Without a but, through funding cuts
I watched them helping everywhere
I will celebrate the woman
For when all is said and comes
These empty streets they bore the feet
Of sillouettes in sun.
