Did you ever wonder how significant a rainbow could be? When we are young we are led to believe that if you find the end of a rainbow you'll find a pot of gold. I like to think of coronavirus like that. I need to believe that something good will come from this, otherwise what has it all been for?
In the future, fresh, meaningful deep breaths fill my lungs as I walk down an empty street. It's rush hour but instead of the hum of cars I hear the signing from birds nestled within the branches of full trees. A sea of green fills my gaze as I see nature taking control of my journey.
My eyes have been opened to a clear blue sky and there's no going back. With the noise of chaos filling my head, news stories and hearsay I begin to feel free again and let my worries drift far away into yesterday.
This is the future and it is indeed bright. Where cars once went, bikes now hurry past. The journeys we took to the shop by car, replaced by a walk or a stroll short or far. The fog once engulfing the sky up above have vanished as cars come to a halt. Glistening brightly the sun breaks the clouds.
For in this tragedy we have remembered. To be. To be free and to respect what we see. A hug that once waited is embraced with love. Meetups with friends are honoured and cherished. The importance of touch and savouring the present.
In this future we remember the lost, we look out for our neighbours and we live in the moment giving thanks for our planet.
We took on the challenge of committing to change. We stuck by our words and, instead of materialist pleasure, we seek travel, fun and adventure. For respecting the earth is what we do best; remembering the time when we gave it a rest.
