A Seaborne Stone

Author: Shona Robin MacPherson
Year: Hope

I’m edges softened, a seaborne stone

I’m your house, holding up the walls with mud and tears

Wrinkles etched like valleys of joy

Sun beaming across golden reeds

This island home you made for us, still holding us tight, you’re around every corner and in every grain of warmed wood

You’re holding me and I’m holding him, stretched across the gulfs of time.
