Day 20 after moving

'Good morning, sunshine! What would you like for breakfast?' I was determined to hold on to my morning cheerfulness for as long as I could.

'Hmmmf' was the grumpy answer. 'I’ll tell you what I don’t want. I don’t want to go to school! You can’t make me! It’s torture! I want to go back to my school where I have friends!'

'Give it some time and you’ll make friends' I offered, without much hope. The same dialogue had been going on ever since we moved.

'But I don’t want to make new friends! I have plenty of friends, they just don’t live here! Muuuum, I want to go baaaack!'

I sighed and looked out of the window. Fluffy clouds looked like cotton candy in the pink sky, promising a bright and joyful day ahead. We’ll get there, I thought, eventually…

Day 135 after moving

'Good morning, sunshine! What would you like for breakfast?'

'Food' was the answer.

'Excellent choice!' I smiled. 'Anything specific? Cereals, bread, pancakes? I can even do hash browns if you can wait.'

'Oooh yes, hash browns, please! Did I tell you I got everything correct at the maths test yesterday? And you know what my friend did?' I kept smiling as I was listening to her cheerful voice. 'I guess it’s not so bad here after all' she said, somewhat pensively, at the end. And I just kept smiling.
