Jeane Christison,our yoga teacher

Author: Leela Gautam
Year: Hope

For Jeane Christison aged ninety three it is a fifty kilometre round trip by car, every Tuesday, to teach us yoga.

Jeane is an amazing positive person who has been influencing the lives of hundreds of women in and around Aberdeen for the last forty years. I started yoga lessons with her seventeen years ago, soon after retirement. Her approach helped me to to overcome the challenges of retirement and confront health issues through positive thinking.

Her yoga classes are well thought out and prepared with emphasis on health and wellbeing.Through proper diet, breathing, concentration, exercise and relaxation she conveys the true meaning of yoga which is the union of body, mind and spirit.

In spite of her own health problems, which she manages to keep well in check, the tragic loss of her young daughter and the responsibility of two grandsons she focuses on the blessings in her life.

She listens to problems and gives us the wisdom of her own experience.

Jeane is still performs intricate yoga poses while finding easier adaptations for those less able. Her classes are stress free and enjoyable. I speak for myself and for colleagues when I say that we have benefited hugely from her example and teaching. Jeane is indeed a true inspiration and guiding light.

I am grateful for having met her.
