Ladder of Hope

Author: Jenny Bartok
Year: Hope

Inspired by Georgia’s O’Keeffe’s Ladder to the Moon.

For those thousands of unpaid carers out there like me, doing the best they can in the face of circumstances over which they have so little control, weighed down and struggling to see the way forward at times, here is a ladder of hope especially for you.

A giant ladder, suspended in the sky, untethered and as light as a feather, floating freely in the turquoise shimmering sky under a half moon, dark hills far below. It might be a stark contrast to your situation but it’s a symbol of hope. Where could this ladder lead? Maybe away from the uncertainty of today and towards better times? We don’t know but there's nothing to lose by exploring just where it might take you. Take hold of it in both hands and it will support you. When you’re ready, start to climb, step by step. In time, maybe you’ll feel more brightness, more warmth and even possibilities. It might be two steps up, one step down sometimes but don’t ever lose sight of your ladder of hope!
