Lighthouse

Author: Sharon McHale
Year: Hope

There are rocks below the waves that lap

The waves that lap and ebb and flow

The tide is out then the tide is in

Your light shines bright so let it glow

And don’t give in and don’t give in

Just shine a light and shine it bright

A shining light is her birthright

To show the way to show the way

Just keep it on the light that shines

The warmth the glow the rays that show

The path the light and all that’s right

To avoid the rocks and the crash below

Tower high above and guide the way

See past the storm and the gales that blow

And shine your light on the waves below

Lighthouse watching your infant grow

To be able to steer her course below

Watch the tides as they ebb and flow

Shine your light on the storm below

To withstand the storm be tall and strong

She knows you’ve been with her all along

Be that lighthouse standing tall

To guide the way and avoid the fall

The tide goes out the tide goes in

The storm will pass so don’t give in

Just shine your light- do what you do

Be that lighthouse shining on green , grey or blue

The light you shine will guide the way

The storm will pass to a brighter day
